A slower journey through the depths of Colca Canyon

Explore Colca Canyon on foot over three days, with more time to manage the elevation changes and discover small valley communities. The route descends from Cabanaconde to San Juan de Chuccho, continues through Cosñirhua and Malata and reaches the Sangalle oasis.

In addition to the trek, the program visits valley viewpoints and stops at the Condor Cross. The experience is strenuous because of steep gradients, uneven terrain and altitude, and is recommended for travelers with good fitness and experience on long hikes.

The trek includes substantial descent and ascent on dirt and stone trails. Lodges inside the canyon are simple and may have limited electricity, hot water subject to availability and unreliable mobile signal. Travel light because every participant carries their belongings during the hike.

Acclimatize in Arequipa for at least one day before the trek.

Disclose heart or respiratory conditions, injuries or vertigo before booking.

Walking times depend on group pace, weather and trail conditions.

Pack-mule rental is subject to availability and additional payment.

How difficult is the three-day trek?

It is strenuous because of the elevation change and altitude, although the three-day version distributes the walking better than the two-day program. Training before travel is recommended.

Do I carry all my luggage?

Yes. Bring only essential items in a small backpack. A pack mule may be booked in advance, subject to availability and additional payment.

Do the lodges have private bathrooms?

Not always. Accommodation inside the canyon is basic, and room and bathroom type depend on confirmed availability.

Is the Colca Tourist Ticket included?

No. The ticket is managed by AUTOCOLCA and paid separately unless your confirmation expressly states otherwise.

The Rainbow Mountain tour exceeded all of our expectations! The entire trip was well organized, with comfortable transportation, a delicious breakfast and lunch, and a friendly, professional guide who made the experience enjoyable from start to finish. The views along the hike were incredible, and reaching the top to see Rainbow Mountain was absolutely worth it. Our guide gave us plenty of time to enjoy the scenery, take photos, and learn about the local culture and the surrounding Andes. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Cusco. Everything was handled perfectly, and it was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Peru. Thank you for such an unforgettable adventure!

Terrible service. We booked a bus with them, but they never came to pick us up at the hotel. They didn't answer any of our calls or messages, and of course, they didn't refund our money. I strongly advise against using this agency.
